Concert - South Holland Centre, Spalding, Lincolnshire - 1st October 2004
Personal Review

Without trying too hard I wound up with a seat on the front row again. The stalls were pretty much full with just a few odd empty seats, mostly near the front, including one next to me that proved handy for my camera. Personally I don't understand why people choose to sit at the back. There were also people on the balcony though I couldn't see how full it was.
In the two hour performance, which included a 20 minute break, Beverley performed a wide selection of songs from all three of her albums.

Those men previously inspired by the song "Tick Tock" being about Beverley's sister who was without love in her life, can now cross her off their lists. The song obviously did the trick as Beverley told us that her sister now has a 2 year old son and is four months pregnant.

Felix Krish, although supposedly there to play bass, also doubled as the comedian for the evening. As Beverley was about to introduce "Move On" he refered to it as 'the traffic warden song'; and when a sound engineer came on stage to plug in a microphone he quipped "This is one of Beverley's dancers Ladies and Gentlemen".

The band also included Beverley's faithful electric guitarist Ian Bairnson, and someone on sax and flute. Unfortunately as Beverley introduced him, the audience were clapping Felix Krish so loudly that I missed his name. Personally I couldn't understand this as I didn't think Felix's jokes were that funny. So my apologies to the sax player, doubtless someone will enlighten me as to his name.

'Look No Further' is always excellent at concerts. The long instrumental section at the end gives Beverley a chance to rest her voice, and gives the rest of the band a chance to show off their talents. For several minutes we were treated to a wonderful musical tennis match as Ian Bairnson and the saxophonist bounced bars back and forth across the stage.
The quieter sections of some songs were slightly disturbed by a mosquito that seemed to have found its way into the sound system, but thankfully it was drowned out most of the time.

Beverley finished with a solo rendition of "I listen to the rain".

I was a little dissappointed that there were no new songs, but as this is a tour to promote the "Best of" album perhaps that is understandable. Maybe we'll get to hear some new ones on a tour next year?

The best photo of the evening.
